Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

Total needed £150C is seventy five years old and lives with her disabled partner in a very cluttered property. She is accessing support from her housing worker to help with decluttering, as her property is no longer safe to live in. C's housing worker has asked if we can support her to obtain a skip to start to declutter her home, making it safe for herself and her partner. If C can get the support she needs, it will improve her mental health greatly and she can look forward to living a safer, healthier life in her own home.

Total needed £140Unfortunately, S was a victim of crime and, as such, has no funds for another four weeks when his next benefit payment comes through. His Support Officer has asked for our help because they have tried to access a benefit advance to help him out, but he is not eligible. This money is to ensure that S has funds to buy his food for the next four weeks, alongside some support from ourselves, particularly because he has limited cooking facilities.

Total needed £200H, who has two children to support, suffers with her physical and mental health. Due to the cost of living crisis, she has no surplus cash from her Universal Credit income. She is working with her GP surgery and would like to try a gym, which we feel would be good for both her mental and physical health, but she is unable to afford the fees. We are looking to see if we can get £90 for H to join her local gym to see if it improves her health. If you could help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £90I had a lovely chat with this client who was placed in temporary accommodation in early 2022. Her case was overlooked and she was deemed as not a housing need, eventually becoming homeless. In 2024, our client was picked up by Streetlink and placed in St Mungo's for a week. She was then moved to a winter shelter which was not suitable for her medical needs. This lady has finally found suitable housing, but is in need of furniture. She said a double mattress would be really great. Thank you for your support.

Total needed £175This request concerns a young lady who is a single mother with a fourteen year old son. M lives in a council house and has very little income. She has a history of depression and anxiety, which means she has paid little attention to her back garden. The housing people want her to get it cleared by mid July or it may affect her right to the tenancy. We have sourced most of the cost, but the final £200 would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Total needed £200K has a problem with severe mould in her flat, which has affected her health and her bed, and she is currently sleeping on the sofa. She receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, but a very low amount which barely covers costs. K has a number of health conditions including a knee injury, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety. The council is currently working on the mould condition in the flat and we are requesting £200 for a new bed for when the mould condition is sorted. Thank you for your help.

Total needed £150H is a young mum with a disabled child that she cares for. The home she lives in has no flooring down at all and H is struggling financially. She has no savings, as her only income is from benefits, and without our help she would never be able to afford to carpet her home. H's house is really cold and damp, and feels unsafe for her child. Carpets down would transform her house into a home. We have an offer of free carpets, but would appreciate your help with the fitting charge.

Total needed £155This family of four, who are refugees from Afghanistan, have been in the UK for several months. Mum is suffering from the trauma of Afghan regime political abuse and is reticent to seek help. The family clearly needs weather suitable clothes and shoes. We have provided most of the clothes they need, but need to purchase shoes and wellingtons for the children. Your support would help in a practical way, but also, importantly, show mum that she can trust strangers.

Total needed £100S is a refugee from Iraq who moved to Birmingham this week. His Universal Credit payments have been stopped, due to an incomplete and overdue to-do list, so he currently has no income to support his daily living. S is deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other, which also makes life very difficult and, along with his lack of English language, he cannot find a job. Any donations would support his daily living costs, including kitchen utensils, an air fryer and food so he can cook meals for himself.
